It was a busy day for Highstar Capital, as the firm’s Star Atlantic Waste Holdings II LP agreed to buy the U.S. waste management assets of Veolia Environnement’s Veolia ES Solid Waste, Jonathan Shieber reports. And the government of Puerto Rico awarded a 40-year lease on Luis Munoz Marin International Airport to Aerostar Holdings, a joint venture between Highstar and Grupo Aeroportario del Sureste SAB de CV. There’s probably not much opportunity for synergy between waste management and airport operations, though, unless Highstar plans to start picking up the trash via 747
