NEW YORK — The investment firm Blackstone named a new head of global private equity. Blackstone said Wednesday that Joe Baratta will take over the role from its President Tony James. The move allows James, who also has the title of chief operating officer, to look after other parts of Blackstone's business. Baratta is currently the head of private equity in Europe and is also a member of the investment team. James said in a statement that Baratta established the firm's European operations after moving to London in 2001.
