Private equity helps F&C trust outperform

http://www.ft.com/ https://twitter.com/#!/FT The £1.8bn Foreign & Colonial investment trust has outperformed its benchmark thanks to holdings in private equity.
The UK’s oldest investment trust, managed by F&C Asset Management’s Jeremy Tigue, posted its annual results to December 31 earlier this month.


The trust’s shares fell by 6.8 per cent last year, and it lost 4.8 per cent in net asset value (NAV) terms, compared to a loss of 5.1 per cent for its performance benchmark, which is a composite of 40 per cent FTSE All-Share and 60 per cent FTSE WI World excluding UK.
