For Some, TED Spells DEAL.

In 2009, Ben Kaufman was a 22-year-old entrepreneur sulking at a dinner during the TED conference in California because he couldn’t persuade any investors to finance his new venture. Then he met Jason Port, a former sales director at CBS Sportsline.


Kaufman told Port that he wanted to start a Proctor & Gamble for the Internet age, a company that created consumer products by seeking ideas from the public and then developing the idea with the help of an online community.
