Former Oracle CFO Heads to Private EquityBy Michael Hickins

Private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Partners announced this week that it had hired former Oracle finance chief Jeff Epstein as a senior advisor, a role that puts him in position to identify new career opportunities for himself. Still, it is a road less traveled, and his choice will raise questions should he apply for another CFO position, recruiters say.


In his advisory role, Epstein expects to work with the firm’s portfolio companies, as well as advise the firm on acquisition targets.

Epstein wouldn’t characterize this position as a stepping stone to another CFO job, but acknowledged that he “may have an opportunity to be a CFO again in the future.” He did say, however, that he’s not interested in becoming a CEO. “I love being a CFO. I think I will continue being a CFO. I’m pretty happy being a CFO and being an advisor to CFOs,” he said during a phone conversation with CFO Journal Thursday.
