QIC's private equity strategy paying off

AUSTRALIAN investors enviously watching the performance of initial public offerings such as human resources software provider Workday, which has nearly doubled since its NYSE listing last week, may be profiting unknowingly.

QIC, which manages about $65 billion on behalf of the Queensland government, sovereign wealth funds, superannuation funds and other institutional investors, has a $3bn private equity arm, which has had a stake in recent high-profile IPOs.
