Startup Grind in a community of founders, entrepreneurs, and wantrapreneurs looking to be inspired, educated, and network with the smartest startup minds. Startup Grind originally started with a meeting where our friends would get together and chat at night in early 2010 in our 1000 sqft office in Mountain View CA. It was a chance for us to brainstorm, provide feedback on each others ideas, and hopefully spawn the next big thing. I thought that it should be monthly.
Our first event in Feb 2010 featured a talk about the recent launch of MEETorDIE and the press coverage it received. There were about nine people in attendance. We’ve since done about 50 meetings featuring speakers like: David Cowan (Bessemer), Jason Calacanis (Mahalo), Naval Ravicant (AngelList), Anthony Soohoo (CBS), MG Siegler (TechCrunch), Tony Conrad (About.me), Ben Parr (Mashable), and Jeff Clavier (VC), Scott Heiferman (Meetup), Kevin Rose (Digg, MILK), Ben Silbermann (Pinterest), and many others. Our events are now across the US with monthly meetings in Palo Alto, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Arizona, and Salt Lake City. #StartupGrind is a hashtag that I have used for a long time to describe my experience of running and participating in a startup. There is no better way to describe the day-to-day reality of being a founder. via Derek Andersen
