USA Today has compiled a ranking of the top U.S. cities for startups, and Boston has come in at No. 2. The paper recently asked the National Venture Capital Association to rate the cities that receive the most start-up funding for tech entrepreneurs, and “brainiac-rich” Boston trailed only the San Francisco area in total capital raised. The NVCA said Boston has 700 startups, 285 of which raised $2.77 billion in venture backing in 2011.
