Private equity practitioners have seen at least one ally come out publicly in support of the industry.  

Oregon Investment Council, which is an investor in funds managed by such firms as Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., Oaktree Capital Management and TPG Capital, wrote over the weekend that private equity has been the top performer in the Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund, which the council manages, since 1981.
