European private equity firm HgCapital and its portfolio company RidgeWind have reached the financial close of its 20.5MW Wandylaw wind project in Northumberland, England with Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) providing a £36m project financing loan. HgCapital provided 100 per cent of the equity for the project, and the deal brings total debt and equity value of European renewable energy projects financed by the firm to more than €1.5bn covering over 700MW of wind, solar and hydropower installations.
