It's a trick question: You almost certainly need a plan - no matter what kind of business you own.

With both a MBA and nearly a quarter century of direct, start up, CEO and COO experience, I've learned that there are few guarantees in business - but there is one I can make: You and your company will face a LOT more potentially lethal dragon attacks if you don't have a written business plan. Guaranteed. So, why take needless risks when your probability for success is greatly enhanced with a minor cost and a few hours of your time focused on planning?

Whether you are seeking investment or debt capital, want business partners, intend to raise funds for a non-profit organization or just need internal clarity and focus, you need a plan.

Having successfully raised over $25 million from investors and venture capitalists with business plans I have personally prepared, I understand all the components that are important to a realistic and marketable plan for your company.

My Business Plan Planning Service, and ALL of my plans, include three years of detailed financial projections and charts, in both Microsoft Word table and Excel spreadsheet formats. My Business Plan Planning Service, when used in conjunction with my copyrighted Business Plan Planning Worksheet, is the starting point for all plans. It often saves my clients significant time and expense in the plan development process - especially for a brand new venture when the vision of the company may be clear but the details aren't yet fully defined.

My Business Plan Planning Worksheet includes more than 150 key questions that your business plan should cover - so you are better prepared for the questions that almost every angel investor, venture capitalist and banker will ask you.

This is not so much a template but is, instead, a framework for data gathering, brainstorming and decision-making. My guess is that it will quickly organize your past planning, but more importantly, it will turn on an amazing creative spigot of rich detail for your vision of the company's future. Details you will need to know in order to answer the inevitable questions from prospective investors, lenders and business partners. Details you will need to know so you are better prepared to implement all the action items required to move your company from concept to reality.

Once you have answered these 150 questions, and I complete the financial projections, you will probably have much better clarity on the details of your company, its expected revenues and expenses - along with your start up capital needs and the steps needed for implementation. Then, we can determine your best funding solution, and the kind of business plan you may need to find those funds.

The Business Plan Planning Service also includes up to one additional hour of ImpleMentor Management Consulting on your business model, operations, implementation and funding.

Cost: $800 for Economy Service. Additional hours of ImpleMentor Management Consulting billed at my standard rate. ::: Concise Business Plan :::

I will take the information developed on my propriatary Worksheets and combine it with your business model, existing research, narrative and information to produce a Concise Plan for your company that includes 3-5 years of financial projections. The Concise Plan also includes an executive summary, narrative describing each of the financial sections and a PowerPoint presentation. The Concise Plan is recommended for clients who wish a simplified narrative.

Cost: $1,000. Additional hours of ImpleMentor Management Consulting billed at standard rate.

::: Comprehensive Business Plan :::

The Comprehensive Plan includes all the Concise Plan information along with greater in-depth narrative including sections on marketing, sales, product descriptions and strategy. The Comprehensive Plan also includes up to two additional hours of ImpleMentor Management Consulting. The Comprehensive Plan is recommended for clients who intend to pursue equity investment or complex bank debt financing.

Cost: $2,500. Additional hours of ImpleMentor Management Consulting billed at at standard rate.

::: Private Placement Memorandum (PPM) Service :::

Depending on your approach to investors, securities laws may require you to produce a full private placement memorandum (PPM) which would also include your basic business plan information. Having founded an NASD broker-dealer company, I can help you avoid onerous problems and guide you through the constraints of federal and state securities laws that could cause either overt or technical violations during your fund raising. Ignoring these issues are dangerous and might require rescission, i.e., giving back all the money, or cause even more onerous legal consequences. The PPM Service includes development of a Reg D offering document specific to your business and funding goals. (Excludes Form D and state filings which can be completed for standard hourly rate.)

Cost: $6,000. If you only need the PPM, the cost is $3,500. Additional hours of ImpleMentor Management Consulting billed at standard rate.

Although many know how to write a business plan - very few have my quarter century of direct, hands-on CEO experience of actually conceptualizing, starting, staffing, funding and operating multiple, multi-industry companies - experiences that will directly benefit the quality and reality of your own business plan.

Many can generate boilerplate words for a plan - very few can produce an understandable, motivating, investor or lender-focused document that integrates over two decades of relevant experience that also synthesizes your plan into a real, living document that addresses and anticipates the realities of starting and growing a company.

All business plan services require a payment of 100% of the agreed amount as a retainer prior to Ceo Resource commencing work. Turnaround time will depend on the scope of your specific project. All travel expenses are pre-paid directly by client prior to trip.

Ongoing ImpleMentor Management Consulting Service or Virtual Chief Operating Officer Service requires a fully executed written agreement between the parties accompanied by a retainer equal to two weeks estimated Standard Weekly Services prior to Ceo Resource commencing work.

All plans and planning services include up to three drafts of the financial projections and up to three draft reviews of any narrative. Additional revisions and drafts can be provided at my standard rate, with a one hour minimum. The final document will be delivered to client via email in both Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat formats. All spreadsheets will be provided in Microsoft Excel format. Any and all updates and changes requested by client after delivery of final document will be billed at at my standard rates, with a one hour minimum.

All project and hourly rates are exclusive of travel and other out-of-pocket costs which will be charged and billed separately. All services, prices and terms are subject to availability and may change, without notice, at any time prior to and outside the terms of any binding, mutually executed agreement. Payment is required within 3 days of receipt of invoice. No refunds of any retainers or other amounts paid shall be made after payment has been made.
