As two aspiring NY stand-up comics, Fabio Iannella and Jackie Cheng were itching for an open-mic that offered more stage time, excluded snotty comics who show no support, and that understood that most comics are broke (and can't always afford to pay an open mic fee).

They eventunally decided to just start their own. And start one they did! October 2009 was the birthdate of "The Drunken Mic". The Drunken Mic promised 7-8 minutes stage-time, no mic fee and a supportive group of comics. The same ideas transferred to their showcase shows. Now with multiple open mics and showcase shows, they form Brooklyn Comedy Underground (BCU). "Comics Supporting Comics" is the motto Jackie continues to build BCU on.
